Yes, it is here ... an actual playable demo game using the new /q/ server!

I want you to know that I was able to create this game in a couple of hours using JavaScript ... and that you should be able to right-click and "Save as HTML", then edit the saved client and load it into your browser and still connect to the main server!!

The server itself is mostly done, or at the very least functioning so that players should be able to start coding their own games.

It is of course all experimental so I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out ... after this has a few rounds of players testing it I want to start making posts on gaming forums announcing the new gaming engine!!

Okay, so here is the link ... and at my quintrixandcrew.com domain there are a lot of posts I've made concerning the development of the game and how the code works.

Here is a run down on the actual "game", what you can do:

Get Bucket, Use Well (to fill bucket), Plant Tomato, Fix Broken Axe, Chop Tree, Catch Salmon, Use Fire (cook), and Make Boat.

The DeadTree spawns every one minute, if you cut the tree at thirty seconds the new one will appear in thirty seconds (the refresh).

To sail off the island, you need four logs to make a boat ... so if you cook Salmon, it takes longer to get off. The idea is to cook salmon until you get tomatoes growing, then you won't need fire and can use the wood to make the boat.

Clicking on a "scroll tile" checks to see if you have the boat, and enough health to survive the ocean.

The next release will hopefully include scrolling, so we can begin mapping a new world. :)

Also want to point out it is in the /z/ directory, for "omega" meaning the last ... or the final ... meaning the "player server".

The DevTeam Server will remain in the /q/ directory, and I'm considering an /a/ server for "Anarchy" where they can submit a custom client.

When you choose Save As..., remember to choose the raw HTML download option, so the browser doesn't break it trying to edit it (and in Windows, by linking it to a local directory.)

I think most browsers actually call it "HTML page only" or similar. It may not break it, but possibly will. I am currently not on Windows to test, but will try to get time this weekend, if it's still a problem... Joe's looking into it now...

I have resolved the issue, players can now "Save as HTML" and edit the client on the /z/ server:

After a security review, I plan to post on GameDev inviting programmers to check out our new gaming engine. :)
