UPDATE: Game server is now back online!
I've had to make a very hard decision, perhaps the hardest decision I've ever had to make on Queville.
As of right now, I have shut down all Queville gaming servers in protest of the proposed SOPA and PIPA legislation currently being debated in Congress. I feel I must participate in the protest movement due to the seriousness of the flaws in this legislation.
Under this bill, if a disgruntled player were to file a false Copyright violation claim, the government would be allowed to shut down Queville without any due process what-so-ever. It would then be on me to go to court and prove that I did not violate any Copyright laws. This is unacceptable to me.
I know some players may not agree with my decision, but I hope you will at least understand why I am taking it. If anyone is going to shut down Queville, it is going to be me ... NOT THE GOVERNMENT!!! I am doing this to protect Queville, a short shut down is nothing compared to the damage that this legislation could do to our little world.
To be fair, I am only going to do a few hours - not a full 24 hour blackout like Wikipedia, and I am also going to leave the main website and forums online and open so you can all still make plans for wars and training and what not during this down time.
I now leave you with Google's protest page concerning this legislation. From this page, you will be able to contact your Congressman and let them know that if this SOPA bill is going to shut down Queville then you do not want them supporting the bill and that it needs to be killed. There is no fixing this bill, it needs to be killed!!!
