I was playing with matches at the Castle trying to get the timestamps right and ended up cooking a bunch of fish ... which brings up one of the first problems we will need to find a solution for: pollution.

Because the new engine keeps the item's timestamp even when dropped, the fish I dropped will be there for three days. And if there are a bunch of people fishing, there will be a bunch of fish laying around. I'm talking like ... imagine the fishing guild with no fish disappearing. lol

We may need to establish limits or something, I don't know but for the time being I'm going to see what happens. :)

Great idea. :)

Today I elaborated on the cook and eat routines; I iniitally did them like Queville where the first fish in your inventory was eaten, but with each fish having it's own timestamp it becomes important to eat the fish that was clicked on.

Thus, the client sets form{'j'} to "[slot]-[item]" and the eat.pl and cook.pl modules have the code to validate that input and manipulate the player{'inven'} as required. They make for a good template for future routines.

Starting with the match.pl routine, which because matches have estamps also lights the match you click. I have opt'ed to do away with the "stack" option as I don't like the server load of determining which match has the lowest expire stamp. I think we will have to do away with the auto-lighting of a match when cooking for the same reason, players will just have to light their own fires now.

Overall, great progress being reported! I really like the feel of fishing and it certainly feels like Fordana and Queville so I believe everything is progressing the way it should. :)

I've been playing more on the tablet and decided I like it, the zoom works well and I can position my avatar so my left thumb can do all the clicking while my right thumb scrolls the zoomed map around.

Overall, the game engine works very well on both touch and mouse devices. :)

BTW: this update is mostly online if you want to go fishing you can - login to the 'queville' and head east to the Fishing Pier and catch some bait. You can then use the bait to catch crabs. And if you go south, you can catch carps.
